Any Resemblance is Purely Coincidental by Charles Dodge
1980
Dodge uses Ruggero Leoncavallo's "Vesti la giubba" from the opera Pagliacci as source material. The piece plays on the dichotomy of the aria, where Pagliacci is putting on his clown costume while lamenting his marital problems. Dodge alternates the role of the piano from accompaniment to sounding in dialogue with the source recording.
Isabelle Eberhardt Dreams of Piano by Missy Mazzoli

Isabelle Eberhardt was a 19thC aristocratic explorer who disappeared into the deserts of North Africa at the age of 27. This piece imagines her final moments, drawing on Franz Schubert's A Major Piano Sonata as fragments of sound drift through the air.

All of the electronics is drawn from an infomercial for the Abtronics Pro, an exercise belt that you wear in order to get abs while sitting in front of the TV.
